This year has been a fantastic year for 1360 Squadron (Stapleford & Sandiacre) Squadron ATC. To make it even more of a spectacular year two of the long standing Cadets (who both reached their Cadet Warrants Officers in 2013) have been chosen as the South and East Midlands Wing representatives for the Dacre Sword and Brooch Award.
The awards are for the female and male cadet (s) who have gone “above and beyond” to achieve everything they can and to be the best.
Cadet Warrant Officer Abbie Jones (18) and Cadet Warrant Officer Liam Osbiston (18) are now recognised as the best female and male cadet in the South and East Midlands Wing. Both of the fantastic cadets had to apply for the award which included submitting an application each on what they have achieved through their years of being a cadet and also what they have achieved outside of the Air Training Corps from outside sports, to world challenges and charity work.
Cadet Warrant Officer Abbie Jones said: “I never thought in my cadet career I would achieve such an award! After always putting my whole heart, soul and dedication into cadets for 6 years it was definitely worth it! It took a week for the news to actually sink in. It was a fantastic feeling to think I have been chosen for the best female Cadet in the Wing”.
Cadet Warrant Officer Liam Osbiston Said: “After receiving the news of being awarded the best male cadet in South and East Midland Wing I am extremely happy that my hard work and dedication has resulted in such a prestigious award being given to me”.
