Air Cadets at Leicestershire and Rutland Armed Forces Day Parade

More than 100 Air Cadets from Leicestershire and Rutland attended a Service in leicester cathedral and paraded alongside Army and Sea Cadets to show their support for the Armed Forces.

Being prominently placed within the Cathedral’s congregation, the Air Cadets took their part at a service of commemoration and thanksgiving for Britain’s Armed Forces, Past, Present and Future.

Present at the service were the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Jennifer, Lady Gretton, many Deputy Lieutenants and other dignitaries. Making up the congregation were members of the Leicestershire based Armed Forces both regular and territorial.

During the service there was a reading confidently delivered by Leicestershire Lord Lieutenants’ Air Cadet, Flight Sergeant Molly Henson (17). Molly is a cadet at 1(F) (Leicester) Squadron and has been a cadet for four years.

Following the service there was a parade from the High Street, lead by the Seaforth Highlanders Band. Parading were Veterans, current serving members of the armed forces and cadets.

With hundreds of people lining the route, cheering and clapping, the Parade marched towards Leicester’s Clock Tower where the salute was taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Jennifer, Lady Gretton before proceeding onto Humberstone Gate where the parade was dismissed.

The organisers commented “Our Armed Forces day parade started from humble beginning 4 years ago. It’s grown into such a large parade, with all elements of the Armed Forces and youth organisations being represented. It’s always wonderful to see so many Air Cadets present to represent the future of the Royal Air Force.”
