Cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron were invited by the Royal British Legion (Nottinghamshire Branch) to Nottingham Castle for poppy collections. The event which was sponsored by The BBC for the 90th anniversary of First World War and included many stalls with information about the period, some of which included a display of weapons and uniforms, a medals expert, plus a genealogy stall run by the BBC where visitors could research their relatives from the Great War plus many other stalls with information about the era. Visitors were also invited to lay commemorative crosses at a local memorial.

Mr Paul Mulingani, the County Field Officer for the Nottinghamshire Branch of the Royal British Legion, said “We are extremely grateful to the OC, staff and cadets of 2195 Squadron for such an excellent turnout, I was especially impressed with the politeness, smartness and attitude of the cadets, they are a credit to your Squadron and Wing and I shall be writing to OC South & East Midlands Wing to tell him so”.
