Air Cadets Recruit at Nottingham’s Armed Forces Weekend
Although the weather dampened Nottingham’s celebration of the Armed Forces, it did not dampen the spirit and enthusiasm of the Nottingham Air Cadets who were intent on promoting and recruiting for the Air Cadet Organisation.
A busy time at the recruiting stand
After the excitement of hosting the National Event last year, Nottingham City Council elected for a smaller event this year reverting back to the weekend format in the historic and picturesque Wollaton Park.
Out in force, the Air Cadets from most of the Nottingham squadrons answered the call to provide both cadets and staff to man the Cadet and Adult Recruiting stands, probably the biggest stand on the site.
Through the cold of the Saturday and the pouring rain on the Sunday the cadets and staff managed to attract around 50 potential cadet recruits and 10 prospective Adults.
Apart from recruiting and promoting the Air Cadet Organisation, the cadets also took part in the Drumhead Service on the Sunday.
“Once again the Air Cadets did themselves proud and represented both the Corps and the Royal Air Force in their usual smart, disciplined and cheerfull way, I am proud of them all” said Flight Lieutenant Jodi Hudson, Officer Commanding 504 (West Nottingham) Squadron who acted as Officer in Charge of the Cadets for the event.
