Armed Forces Day

A Cadet from 138 Squadron in Carlton, Nottinghamshire enjoyed an evening by invitation from the Mayor of the Borough of Gedling, Councillor Sandra Barnes, to represent the local Air Training Corps. Cadet corporal Sam Smith took up the mantle, to honour the brave heroes of the armed services.

The evening started with a parade with members of the Royal British Legion and dignitaries from the Borough of Gedling. Cadet Corporal Smith was invited to hoist the Armed forces Flag and pay his respects to all the heroes both past and present.

Cadet Cpl Smith reflected on the evening by quoting” A real honour to be invited. I felt very proud to represent the Air Training corps in this very special event”.

Nottingham was chosen host city for the 2013 Armed Forces Day National Event, with a parade through the city centre and a day of celebrations at Victoria Embankment on Saturday 29 June.
