209 (West Bridgford) Squadron, Air Training Corps was represented both on and off the track at the Robin Hood Half Marathon held in Nottingham.

A total of nine Cadets and five staff helped with the marshalling of the event and gave out medals to the runners as they completed the course.

On the run 209 Sqn was represented by the Sqns Drill Instructor, ATC Sergeant Dan Haywood who was raising money for the Martin Beard Memorial Fund. SAC Martin Beard who was from Rainsworth near Mansfield, Notts, was a Gunner in the RAF Regiment who was killed on Operational Duties in Iraq last August.

Dan, himself a former Gunner in the RAF Regt, didn’t want to make the run too easy so completed it in combat clothing with a rucksack on his back!
