Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO) Adam Hill, 18, from 1359 (Beeston) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, has recently visited his old primary school to spend a day working with Year 3 and 4 children as part of their “Come Fly With Me” project. The children, from Mornington Primary School in Nuthall, Nottingham have been working on the project this term learning about all things aeronautical, such as how aircraft and balloons fly and how parachutes work.
The school are always keen to get ex-pupils involved and knowing that CWO Hill has been a cadet since 2005 they invited him along to spend a day telling the children about the various activities the cadets get up to. He also completed some practical exercises with them including teaching them some drill movements.
Teacher Carla Smith, who organised the day, said “The children responded really well to Adam and loved the activities, I think a lot of them now want to join the cadets ”. Ben, aged 9, said “I liked learning how to march best” and Oliver, also 9, was picked out by the CWO as best at drill. CWO Hill commented “Going back to my primary school to talk about what I do was great, I have fond memories from the school and going into help was the least I could do”. When the children were asked if they enjoyed the day the replied with a resounding “We loved it”!
