1359 (Beeston) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, held their 4th Winter Ball on Saturday 10th December at the headquarters of the East Midlands Universities Officer Training Corps (EMUOTC) on Broadgate, Beeston with whom 1359 share the site.

The event was attended by staff, Civilian Committee members, cadets and their parents from 1359 along with cadets and staff from other squadrons in the South and East Midlands Wing of the Air Cadets. Entertainment on the evening came from a live band, disco and a cash prize draw. A buffet was provided by 1359’s Civilian Committee.

The Ball takes several months of planning and 4 days of hard work to transform the parade hall of EMUOTC into a sparkling Christmas party venue. The Commanding Officer of 1359, Flight Lieutenant Phil Bannister VR(T) said in his opening speech “Many thanks to all the staff, committee and cadets for your efforts in bringing this year’s event together and thanks also to the OTC for once again allowing us to take over their hall. I hope that everyone enjoys what promises to be a fantastic evening.”

1359 have been organising the event for the last 4 years as an end of year celebration of the hard work put in by the cadets. The event has become very popular throughout the Wing and is a good opportunity for cadets and staff to meet up with old friends as well as making new ones.
