Beeston Air Cadets Support Maggies

Article posted: Apr 19, 2012 by Sqn Ldr Wilson

Cadets and staff from 1359 (Beeston) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, attended a recent football match as guests of Notts County Football Club. As well as receiving complimentary tickets to the game they met Notts County players after the match including the winner of the Man of the Match award, Lloyd Sam.

Beeston cadets have been involved with the club for a few years in connection with the Maggies charity which provides emotional, psychological and practical support for cancer patients and the families. The charity has been supported for four years by the parents of two of Beeston’s cadets, Cadet Corporal Brandon Redgate and Cadet Jessica Redgate. Before kick-off they took the match ball out onto the pitch in their uniforms to honour their grandfather and great-grandfather who both served in the forces.

It’s a very worthwhile local charity and the cadets were very pleased to be invited along as part of the day’s events which was made even better as the Magpies beat Yeovil 3-1.
