Once again staff and cadets from 1359 (Beeston) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, were at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, on Thursday 29th November to support the RAF Charitable Trust Enterprises (RAFCTE) in staging this year’s RAF Band Concert.
The evening started with the cadets being split into pairs to sell programmes in the lobby and on the various floors to the audience as they arrive. Competition is always fierce amongst the cadets to sell the most programmes and this year was no different. To give each pair a fair chance at being the top sellers the staff rotated them through the selling hot spots. The winning pair were Cadet Sergeant Brandon Redgate and Cadet Corporal Joe Mitchell who each received a RIAT 2012 DVD for their efforts but the real winners on the evening was the RAFCTE who raised additional funds to help with their work supporting charities and organisations that are part of the Royal Air Force “family”..
During the interval the cadets sold flags ready for the second half of the performance that included classics such as Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory. The evening wasn’t just about working for the cadets as following the interval their duties were complete and they entered the auditorium to watch the second half, enthusiastically joining in with the singing and flag waving.
This is an important event in 1359’s year and all the cadets who get involved do so enthusiastically with the staff receiving plenty of positive feedback from the organisers and public on the professionalism of the cadets involved.
