Beeston’s First Time Flyers

Article posted: Apr 25, 2012 by Sqn Ldr Wilson

On Saturday 21st April six cadets from 1359 (Beeston) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, took to the skies over Lincolnshire with 7 Air Experience Flight (AEF) at RAF Cranwell. For four of the cadets this was a first time experience and it gave them the opportunity to perform some simple aerobatic manoeuvres in the Grob Tutor operated by 7AEF under the watchful eye of the experienced pilots.

Cadet Charlie Mather, 13, said “That was great, we did a loop and I had the chance to take the controls for a little while” and Cadet Joshua Oluwatosin also 13, said with a big grin on his face “ Wow I can’t believe I’ve just done that, it was amazing!”.

Flying and gliding are just two of the many and varied activities that the cadets have on offer to them. 1359 (Beeston) Squadron are currently recruiting young people aged 13 and over and will be holding an open evening on Thursday 3rd May.
