25 members of Staff and Cadets from 504 (West Nottingham) Squadron, Air Cadets based in Bilborough, Nottingham recently passed the HeartStart Award.

The aim of the HeartStart course sponsored by the British Heart Foundation is to learn and apply basic Life Saving Skills – Cadets learn the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, how to carry out CPR, place a casualty in the recovery position and how to deal with someone who is bleeding or chocking.

Flt Lt Woodward, Officer Commanding said “All Skills that have been learned by the Cadets can add quality of life to an individual if applied immediately when there is a first aid problem. If a casualty is supported before professional help arrives – it can double the chances of survival.”
