The South & East Midlands Wing Cadet Development Team has been recognised in the 2009 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
The team who are responsible for delivering the Wing’s Cadet-related training courses have been awarded a Team Commendation for Meritorious Service by the Air Officer Commanding No 22 (Training) Group.
The commendation is in recognition of the team’s efforts over the last three and a half years in the development and delivery of high quality and professional training for cadets within South & East Midlands Wing.
Not only has the CDT reviewed and developed the NCO and BASIC training courses, but they have also developed two new courses, these being the NCO Leadership Courses and NCO Drill Instruction Course. In addition, year on year, the team has trained an increasing number of cadets on the various courses, and during 2008 alone, the team provided training for 350 cadets attending the various training opportunities on offer during the sixteen various courses run during 2008.
On hearing of the team Commendation, Wg Cdr Nigel Dickinson, OC South & East Midlands Wing said, “This award is in recognition of the hard work of the team and their efforts in the development and delivery of first class training courses for cadets within South & East Midlands Wing. The commendation is thoroughly deserved and the team should be justifiably proud of this achievement – Well Done!”.
Sqn Ldr Mark Richards (Wing Training Officer – Cadet Development) who leads the CDT added “this award is in recognition of the professionalism, dedication and commitment of the whole team and each and every one of us feels honoured to be recognised in this way”.
