On Wednesday 4th May, Cadet Warrant Officer Damien Simpson as part of his Lord Lieutenant Cadet duties attended the Diamond challenge, accompanying HRH Prince Edward. The Diamond challenge is a one-day walk, which is planned to be the length and level of a one-day Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition walk.

The day started off at Edale National Trust information centre and from here the participants proceeded up Jacobs ladder onto the top of Kinderscout to follow the Penine way onto Mill Hill. At the top of Kinderscout HRH Prince Edward joined Cadet Warrant Officer Simpson in walking along Kinder edge, where they then proceeded down Leygatehead Moor to Kinder Reservoir, where they finished the day at Bowden Bridge.

At the end of the walk all participants were presented a certificate for completing the walk. Cadet Warrant Officer Simpson said “It was a really good day, with a nice walk along Kinder edge, and I enjoyed meeting HRH Prince Edward”.
