On Tuesday 11th Feb, Flight Sergeant (ATC) Gibson, Cadet Flight Sergeant Holford and Cadets Reynolds and Lander were invited to attend the monthly meeting of the Braunstone Branch, Royal Air Force Association, located locally at the Braunstone Civic Centre Leicester.
This year is the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings, so in memory of that, the Cadets put together a presentation of the famous D-Day landing.
This all went down extremely well with the older members of the RAFA branch, bringing back some memories and recollections. The presentation included locations of the operations, codenames of the beaches, successful and unsuccessful objectives, Units and Nationalities involved, communications on the day and last but by no means least, the RAFs involvement in the invasion.
Pictures and Diagrams were also made available for people to look at and also a diorama of a Horsa Glider landing at Pegasus Bridge was built and displayed by the Cadets.
Flight Sergeant (ATC) Gibson said that the night was a total success, Cadets and the RAFA members all enjoyed the evening and it was very much appreciated by the older members who could remember the Day.
