The OC Flt Lt Bates, Office Cadet Kahla and cadets from 2418 (Sherwood) Sqn have worked immensely hard to set up and run a charity fundraiser to raise money for CLIC Sargent the charity for children and young people with cancer.
The cadets were motivated to hold the event following the regrettable loss of a school friend to cancer.
The cadets chose CLIC Sargent to raise money for as it was this charity that had provided support for their friend and his family during his illness.
CLIC Sargent provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help people dealing with illness cope with cancer and get the most out of life. They also provide support to the family, to help everyone from the diagnosis, through the treatment, post treatment and sadly in some cases through bereavement.
Three cadets from 2418 (Sherwood) Squadron plus another friend had their heads shaved to raise money for the charity as part of the charity fundraiser event. There were some very worried faces from girlfriends and family as the volunteering barber made his way down the line, followed by a lot of head rubbing paired with even more shocked faces!
Over all the three cadets and friend raised approximately £400 for the charity, a total they should all be very proud of!
Thank you to all the cadets involved and everyone who made donations.
