On the weekend of 25th-27th February, 126 Derby sqn hosted a small bore target rifle course to train cadets from South and East Midlands Wing how to shoot in competitions.
126 Derby Sqn has a track record of competition shooting winning many national shooting competitions.
Cadets attended from 138, 209, 1211, 1359, 1461 & 2195 Sqns.
The cadets progressed with many increasing their scores over the weekend and gaining and up grading their marksman badges.
The course was planned and run by Sgt (ATC) Ben Hirst and Sgt (ATC) Helen Southall with the support of Sgt (ATC) Paul Brown and Sgt Adam Green from Derbyshire ACF along with 3 top cadet shots: FS Lee Kemp, SGT Dean Cottrill and Cpl Alice Southall of 126 Sqn who also trained the cadets.
SGT Hirst said “ It’s great to see other SQN’s within the wing taking an interest in Target Shooting, All cadets progressed very well over the weekend, not only managing to upgrade their marksman badges but showed a lot of potential to compete in Wing and Corps teams in the near future with many scoring 80’s and above on ten bull cards!”
The course was residential and without the hard work of the logistical support of Sqn Ldr Marshall OC 126 Derby Sqn and his staff of Flt Lt Derrick Smith and WO (ATC) Eileen Smith the cadets would not have had such a pleasant stay including 4 Meals a day including cooked breakfast and a home cooked evening meal with all the trimmings.

THankyou 126 Sqn for your Support.
