On Sunday 13th November two Cadets from 2071 (Stamford) Sqn took part in the Kings Cliffe and District Royal British Legion Remembrance Day Parade for the very first time. They were lead by Sgt ATC Mark Blackshaw, who is currently the Training Officer at 2071 and a member of this branch of the RBL.

Sgt Blackshaw later said, “Although I have been a member of the Kings Cliffe branch for some time, this is the first time that Cadets from 2071 have paraded here. I was very impressed Cadets Nicholas Hart and Matthew Flowers and felt proud when the Legion asked me to ‘lend’ them a Cadet to be part of the escort party for the Legion standard”.

The parade set off at 10:40 from the Ex-Servicemans Club on Wood Road and marched to St James church on Church Walk. A wreath was laid on behalf of the Staff and Cadets of 2071 (Stamford) Sqn, alongside those of the Parish Council, Royal British Legion and Scouts, next to the war memorial inside the church.
Mr J Wyles, President of the Kings Cliffe & District branch commented, “It was a real pleasure to have Cadets on parade for the first time with us in Kings Cliffe. They looked very smart and Cdt Flowers performed well as the escort for the Legion Standard. We look forward to seeing Cadets on parade with us again next year”.
