Cadets Plant Tree for Squadron Birthday

Cadets and staff from 1188 Coalville Squadron Air Training Corps planted a tree in The National Forest.

The cadets and staff from Coalville Squadron joined with other members of the public to plant a tree at Hicks Lodge Cycling Centre near Ashby de la Zouch and extend The National Forest. The squadron planted the tree to mark the squadron’s 70th anniversary.

Flying Officer Rod Dring, the officer in charge of 1188 Sqn chose to plant a new oak tree in the forest. The squadron’s logo was updated in 2000 to reflect the change in local area, Coalville Squadron is now in the heart of The National Forest and has an oak tree in the middle of its logo.

Flying Officer Rod Dring said ” I hope that both our tree and the squadron will still be going strong in another 70 years!
