On the weekend of the 25th and 26th of June, 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron Air Training Corps and the rest of the Nottingham constituency sent cadets to help out on the Air Training Corps tent at Wollaton Park’s armed forces day celebration.
Saturday was spent working the stalls and walking around the area, recruiting potential cadets and directing them toward the tent. Activities in the tent included a flight simulator and dressing up in a Kevlar helmet and camouflage jacket and also applying camouflage cream.
Sunday was spent doing the same activities, although 36 cadets did stand on the parade to celebrate the day. A flight of cadets also participated in a drill sequence, showing off the skill and dedication of the Air Training Corps.
Armed forces day is dedicated to celebrating the armed forces from the army to the air ambulance and all the hard work they do.
Cadet Joan Fowodu said, “It was a really good day out. There were lots of activities and events for everyone to enjoy, can’t wait to go again next year!”
