It’s all change at 504 (West Nottingham) Squadron, with a new Commanding Officer taking over the Unit at the end of September. The change of command followed the appointment of previous OC, Flight Lieutenant Jodi Hudson RAF VR(T), as a Wing Staff Officer at HQ South & East Midlands Wing.
Flt Lt Hudson took command of 504 Squadron in August 2012, following previous command appointments at 2195 (Long Eaton) Squadron and 1936 (Newton) Squadron. During his time at 504, Flt Lt Hudson has worked hard to build a strong and highly motivated team of Cadets, NCOs and staff, all dedicated to growing the successes and achievements of the Unit.
Thursday 30th September 2014 saw Flt Lt Hudson step out to take the Final Parade for the last time as the Officer Commanding 504 Squadron. Presentations of leaving gifts were made, as well as the official handing over of the Unit to the newly appointed Officer-In-Charge, Pilot Officer RAF VR(T) Antony Booth.
Unknown to Flt Lt Hudson, the culmination of his Final Parade involved him undertaking his ice-bucket challenge, much to the delight of everyone present!
Flt Lt Hudson commented: “My time at 504 Squadron has been fantastic, I am very proud of the Unit and extremely pleased at how far it has come over the past two years. Having been a Cadet at 504 Squadron, it has been both a privilege and an honour to service as OC.”
The staff and Cadets at 504 (West Nottingham) Squadron would like to offer their thanks and appreciation to Flt Lt Hudson for his leadership of the Squadron and wish him all the best for his future as a Wing Staff Officer.
