Cadets from 2502 (Hamilton) Squadron Air Training Corps and other Leicester squadrons, performed a guard of honour at civic reception held by Leicestershire County Council.
The reception was an event held in honour of the 70th Anniversary of the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA). Dignitaries included the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Jennifer, Lady Gretton, JP and other local dignitaries.
Dignitaries and guests were welcomed by Mr Peter Lewis the Chairman of the County Council. He shared that “one of my highlights of my term as Chairman has been getting to know members of the armed forces”. The Secretary General of the Royal Air Forces Association, Jane Easton then addressed the reception. She covered the history of the RAFA from its beginnings in 1943 up to and its hope for the future. Jane also thanked the cadets for attending the event saying “they look very smart and so well turned out, we are very pleased to see so many here this evening.”
Other guests at the evening included members from RAFA Branches from Leicestershire and Rutland. The presentations were then followed by a buffet supper.
