1188 (Coalville) Squadron, the Air Training Corps is now a member of the Green Footprints Community Network after cadets and staff attended a network meeting at East Midlands Airport at the end of last month.
North West Leicestershire District Council has launched the new Green Footprints Community Network to encourage local groups to share ideas and opportunities and help access funding opportunities for green projects across the district.

The evening included a guided tour of the airport which is full of ‘eco-friendly’ features, like the geo thermal under floor heating and the recycling of rain water. There was then a short presentation on the new airport hotel being built with its many ‘green’ features. East Midlands Airport is hoping to use biomass energy in the future.

Civilian Instructor Dring said “It was interesting to be shown around the airport and I am really glad the squadron is part of this exciting network, the squadron is striving to be greener by recycling and being energy efficient. ”
