Coalville Air Cadets Visit Police Helicopter

On Sunday cadets and staff from 1188 (Coalville) Squadron Air Training Corps visited the local police helicopter.

Cadets and staff from 1188 (Coalville) Squadron visited the East Midlands Air Support Unit based at Husbands Bosworth. The helicopter is used by police from Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire.

Flying Officer Rebekah Harrison RAF VR (T), Cadet Corporal Hildreth, Cadet Sergeant Peat, Cadet Moore and PC 1190 Williams of Leicestershire Police

The helicopter is a Eurocopter EC 135 P2i and is fitted with the latest equipment used by the American military.
The helicopter has HD cameras including thermal imaging cameras and has a large torch facility, as powerful as 30 million candles. The helicopter is capable of down loading all the images to police control rooms as the footage is being filmed.

Cadet Sergeant Sean Peat said, “ It was awesome, I would like to work on the helicopter”.
Flying Officer Rebekah Harrison RAF VR (T) said,” The camera equipment on the helicopter was incredible, it can zoom in on a location from miles away”.
