1188 (Coalville) Squadron Air Training Corps has recently been awarded a Lord Lieutenant Diamond Jubilee award.
The Coalville Cadets have been awarded one of the sixty awards, the awards are being “given to Community groups who have shown that their community has done something exceptional and positive to develop a community spirit and has enriched the lives of its members and the wider community.”
Flying Officer Rebekah Harrison Said, “ I nominated the squadron in the category of “a youth organisation encouraging young people to fulfil their potential and to be positive contributors to society”, as I think the squadron is a very worthy organisation and encourages young people to be the best they can.”
Flight Lieutenant Clive Williams and Flying Officer Rebekah Harrison attended the award ceremony with Lady Gretton at Beaumanor Hall, in Woodhouse.
Lady Gretton said: “The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee has been one of those unique national occasions which brings together communities, fosters goodwill, and creates harmony and a sense of patriotic pride.
“It was this sense of community that motivated me to recognise how this community spirit is actually fostered at the local level, through the work and dedication of volunteers.”
