Cadets from 1188 (Coalville) Squadron Air Training Corps have been very busy this summer supporting Help for Heroes.

They have been selling Help for Heroes merchandise at several events, manning the stall enthusiastically. They have raised over three hundred pounds for the charity that was set up in October 2007 to offer practical support to members of the armed forces who have been injured whilst serving the country.

Flying Officer Rebekah Harrison RAF VR (T) said, “I was surprised how easy it was to fundraise for Help for Heroes. I registered fundraising events on line and they sent me lots of merchandise on sale or return. The cadets did a fantastic job selling so much stock and raising lots of money”.

Members of the squadron have also had the opportunity to attend a fundraiser at Leicestershire Constabulary Headquarters, where they had the chance to meet Major Phil Packer, who has raised over a million pounds for Help for Heroes. Major Packer first came to the public’s notice when he walked the London Marathon just a month after being told we would never walk again. He was injured whilst serving in Iraq.
