Flight Lieutenant Clive Williams was recently surprised to be awarded the bar to his cadet medal.

Flight Lieutenant Clive Williams has already been awarded his long service and good conduct medal after he completed his 12 years service in uniform in 2007. The bar is presented for a further 6 years service.

Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson awarded the bar to Flight Lieutenant Clive Williams and joked it is often referred to a medal for undetected crimes. The Wing Commander thanked Flight Lieutenant Williams for his commitment to the Air Training Corps. Flight Lieutenant Williams first joined the Air Training Corps as a 13 year old cadet and has been a member on and off ever since. He has served at both Swadlincote Squadron as well as Coalville. He has served as the commanding officer of 1188 Squadron as well as a squadron officer.

He is currently responsible for rifle shooting at the squadron and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The majority of the cadets have a marksman badge for shooting and the cadets who are old enough are working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
