Coalville Squadron Presentation and Enrolment Night
Article posted: Jun 17, 2008 by Sqn Ldr FlynnCadets from 1188 (Coalville) Squadron Air Training Corps havereceived certificates and awards at their annual Presentation Night.
Every year the hard work of the cadets is recognised with awards at the presentation night and this year was no exception. The trophies and certificates were presented to the cadets by Squadron Leader Andy Flynn, a former Commanding Officer of 1188 (Coalville) Squadron, Police Inspector Chris Brown, the NW Leics Local Policing Unit Commander and David Taylor MP for NW Leics.
There were certificates for passing air cadet exams, gaining BTEC awards, representing the Wing (made up of 29 squadrons) at sport, Drill Instuction and learning to handle a glider.

The trophies awarded were:-
RAFA Certificate of Appreciation – Cadet (Cdt) Hurst
Community Award – Cdt Hildreth
Vin Shepherd Cup for Best Attendance – Cdt Watson
Best Sports Cadet – Cpl Cox
John Bancroft Endeavour Trophy – Cpl Brearley
Certificate Of Achievement – Flight Sergeant Moore
Most Enterprising Cadet – Cpl Peat
Most Promising New Cadet – Cdt Smithhurst.
Cadet of the Year – Cpl Tongue

There was also an enrolment Ceremony with the new Squadron Padre. Rev Martin Joss enrolled nine new cadets. The new cadets solemnly promised on their honour to serve their unit loyally and to be faithful to their obligations as a member of the Air Training Corps, to be a good citizen and do their duty to God, the Queen, Country and Flag.
The Commanding Officer Flight Lieutenant Clive Williams RAF VR (T) also promoted eight cadets. Cadets Tongue, Hildreth, Hill and Vincent were all promoted to the rank of Corporal. Corporals Peat, Brearley, Wright and Cox were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Police Inspector Chris Brown said, ‘ I enjoyed the evening and was impressed by the achievements of the cadets, they are a really good group of young people’.

Flight Lieutenant Clive Williams RAF VR (T) said ‘I would like to thank everyone for their hard work over the last twelve months . They have made the squadron the sucess it is. I am proud to be Commanding Officer of 1188 (Coalville) squadron.
