Towards the end of the month Air Commodore Ian Stewart visited 422 (Corby) Squadron for a special Friday parade. Keen to meet the Squadron Commander, Flying Officer Robert McKellar, the Commandant asked if the Squadron would put on an extra parade evening. With very few exceptions, the cadets and staff turned out in force and showed Air Commodore Stewart their facilities and drill display.
He said: “I am responsible for 44,000 Air Cadets on 920 Squadrons across the whole of the United Kingdom and I was delighted to see that 422 (Corby) Squadron was typical of the strong and determined units in the Air Cadet Organisation.
“The cadets in Corby were keen, well motivated, polite and enthusiastic. I know this Squadron will do well in the future under the leadership of Flying Officer Robert McKellar. Corby can be proud of its youth at this dynamic Squadron.”
