The Community Policing Team from Stamford Town visited the Staff and Cadets at 2071 last night. The team had been invited by the Squadrons’ training officer Sgt Mark Blackshaw ATC as part of the Squadrons’ engagement with the local community.
The community policing team consisted of a Police Officer and three Police Community Support Officers. The cadets learned the difference between the two roles, the type of work that the team does and some of the equipment that they use.
PC 745 Debbie Bowen who leads the team enjoyed learning about the structure of the ATC and what opportunities the cadets have access to. PCSO 2018 David Vines told OiC Fg Off Helen Gibson that ‘the cadets are a credit to the Squadron’ PCSO Vines is also a retained Fireman at Stamford Station and will be visiting the Squadron when the Fire & Rescue Service evening is held later this year.

‘We talked to the Police Officers about their local duties and we got to take apart a utility belt and learn about each piece of equipment.’ Cadet Luke Chater. Cadet Connor Johnson-Veale who enjoyed the evening said ‘I was one of the lucky ones that got to try on the officers’ stab vest.’
Sgt ATC Mark Blackshaw who is recently in post as the Squadrons’ training officer thought ‘The evening went very well and it was great to see the cadets engaging with the officers and asking lots of questions.’
