422 (Corby) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets have begun their 2013 recruitment drive and started the event at a local school.
The Kingswood School in Corby were delighted to accept an invitation from the Squadron to bring their recruitment stand to the School’s Year 9 Parents’ Evening.
On arrival the Squadron were met by Geography Teacher and Assistant Headteacher Jon Lawson, who directed them to the centre of the school’s atrium where the Parent’s Evening was being held.
After a quick tour of the school, the Squadron quickly set up their recruitment stand and prepared themselves for the arrival of the parents and students.
The Recruitment Team for the evening included Pilot Officer Ritchie RAFVR, Flight Sergeant (ATC) Broxton, Flight Sergeant Loy, Sergeant Cresswell, Sergeant Samuels-Hammond, Sergeant Broxton and Cadet Glover. Cadet Glover is currently in Year 9 at the school, so it was a great opportunity for him to show his fellow classmates what he gets up to outside of school and he certainly proved a real asset.
The team, who attended in greens, wedgewood blues and even a flying suit, promoted the Squadron and the Royal Air Force Air Cadets with great enthusiasm, gaining great interest from the parents, students and even the teachers (one of which is gliding instructor in her spare time).
Special thanks must go to The Kingswood School, Mr Hudson (Headteacher) and Mr Lawson for allowing the Squadron this opportunity.
