On arrival, they were treated to a display from the personnel practicing their continuity drill on the parade square, in readiness for RAF Wittering Families Day – they are very high in demand.

After lunch in the Junior Ranks Mess, they attended a presentation from the Squadron Engagements Officer, Flight Lieutenant Doug McCorkindale. Cadets learnt more about the ceremonial duties, but also about the field duties that they undertake, as they are also 63 Squadron RAF Regiment and have been deployed all around the world, including places like Afghanistan and have even helped out at the Olympics.

Before departure, 422 had time to practice their drill, learning intricate details that will aid them at their Wing Field Day competition the following month.

The cadets had a great day and the Queen’s Colour Squadron were very impressed with their manner and bearing.

Well done 422!

The Squadron would like to thank everyone at the QCS, especially Flight Lieutenant McCorkindale and Warrant Officer Chris Mears for setting up the visit and letting us get a sneak peek at some of their displays for Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.
