Corby Remember the Fallen

Article posted: Nov 30, 2012 by Sqn Ldr Mayoh-Smith

On 11th November the country stood still for two minutes in remembrance and to honour our fallen servicemen from 2 World Wars and more recent conflicts. 422 (Corby) Squadron were among them. The cadets turned up in their smartest uniform at 9:30am to show their support.
After a quick uniform check and forming up they were ready to go and marched to the church. The march was very good and members of the public told staff later on that the cadets looked very smart and in time. The cadets stood quietly while groups and organisations including our own laid wreaths in memory of the fallen. All of the cadets stood silently as the last post was played and everyone showed the greatest respect.
The morning was attended by so many people that not all of our cadets could fit into the church, instead they had to wait in the church hall of the service to finish, taking part in an inter-service quiz with the Army Cadet Force.
After the service the cadets lead another amazing march and finally were thanked for being part of the parade. The staff members were very impressed with the effort put in by all of the cadets even the new ones. The Sqn would like to thank all who turned out and also a big thank you to Lt Simon Blackman and 118 REME for putting on a great curry.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
