On Monday 10th March 2014 the Squadron had a visit from a student team from nearby Casterton Business & Enterprise College. The students are taking part in the new CVQO Schools Project Teamwork, Personal Skills & Citizenship course.
The Cadet NCOs from 2071 planned a two-part evening with both classroom theory and outdoor practical lessons. The Service Instructors from RAF Wittering were on hand all evening to give advice and supervise.
The first part of the evening was inside the Sqn main hall, where the Cadets and Students learnt about;
- Why we wear a uniform.
- Camouflage and Concealment.
- Hand-signals and group manoeuvres.
For the second part of the evening we deployed onto the playing field next to the Squadron and took part in a confirmation of skills exercise, putting into practise all the cadets and students had learnt in theory.
The experience gained from working as a team and coupled with free-exercise, will hopefully prove a useful skill set in later life.
The Staff, Cadet and CVQO Students all enjoyed the evening with all parties keen to strengthen this tie between to local organisations.
The Sqn now features in the following podcast;
