Yet Another Win for Derby’s Swimmers
For yet another successive year, 126 (City of Derby) Squadron have been crowned the South & East Midlands Wing’s swimming champions.
On a hot day, the pool temperature was raised by the hot competition as the cadets from South & East Midlands strove to wrest the champion’s trophy from the grasp of the Derby Cadets.
However, it was not to be. By the narrowest of margins (just 8 points) Derby beat off a strong challenge by 1211 (Swadlincote) Squadron who took second place, just as they did last year. Third place was taken by 1461 (Wigston) Squadron.
Cadets and Staff eagerly await the ResultsThe presentations were made by Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson in the Warm evening sunshine.
The winners of the classes in this competition will go on to represent the Wing at the Region competition at RAF Cranwell. Wing Commander Nigel Dickinson, on presenting the trophies said; “It is important that those of you who won today are available for the Region Championships. With the effort you all have put into day, there is no reason why the Wing should not retain the Region Champion’s Trophy won from Trent Wing last year.
