Double Celebration for 1936 (Newton) Sqn

Article posted: Jun 13, 2012 by Sqn Ldr Pass

Saturday 26th May dawned bright and sunny for the joint celebration of 1936 (Newton) Squadron’s 70th Birthday party and Jubilee celebration. The Headquarters and grounds were festooned with royal bunting ready for the event.

In the afternoon there was a BBQ for Cadets, parents, Staff and Civilian Committee with Bouncy Castle and Gladiator Joust which was well attended. We were also visited by our Hon President, Sir Edward Nall.

In the evening our very own DJ Tom Dodge provided music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s for the 130 guests (Cadets, Parents, Staff, Civilian Committee and we were pleased to welcome our own WSO, Sqn Ldr Andy Pass and his family plus friends from other Squadrons). A four part quiz was organised by CI Swales and CI Sherwin and a buffet provided by the Civilian Committee.

Following the Raffle the Birthday Cake which was decorated to commemorate both events was cut by Plt Officer Helen Day.

All in all an excellent day enjoyed by all.
