The winning Derby Squdron Team
Twelve Cadets Units from across the Erewash area were invited to take part in the recent 26th Annual Inter Cadet Shooting Meeting, presided by 884 Erewash Branch of the Royal Air Force Association at Stanton Rifle Club, Ilkeston.
On the evening, four Air Cadet Groups competed for the TOM PERRY R.A.F.A. TROPHY, which was a 10 round target shoot across 5 members of the team with the top 4 targets within the team used for scoring purposes.
It was fiercely competed with only 86 points separating the winning team – 126 (City of Derby) Squadron, from the runners up 348 (Ilkeston) Squadron.
Presentations of the TOM PERRY Shield for the Winners and Gold/Silver Medals to the top two units were presented by Wing Commander Philip Giles OBE DL RAFVR Ret’d as Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire.
The top two best shots were also presented with trophies, these individual winners, both from 126 (City of Derby) Sqn was Cadet FS A Southall – 92pts from 100, and the runner up, Cadet FS E Marsh – 88pts.
