Recently, 2418 Squadron was visited by a very special guest, ex-cadet Grant who is now a Sub-lieutenant in the Royal Navy training as an aircrew observer. Sub-Lt Grant gave a presentation on his life in the Royal Navy as of yet. The presentation started with Grant going through all his basic training which included many physical aptitude tests, survival operations and a capture exercise which he said “Wasn’t enjoyable, but an extremely rewarding experience”.

After taking the cadets through his basic training, he moved on to his first deployment and phase 2 of his training. Sub-Lt Grant was deployed on a naval carrier and was taken all over the world. From Egypt to Dubai, Turkey to the Suez Canal! The ex-cadet also told the cadets of all the adventure training expeditions he has the chance to do such as skiing and karting which he described as “brilliant”. The cadets were all extremely eager to ask the Sub-lieutenant many questions about his experiences and future endeavors with the Navy.

After the presentation and all the questions, the cadets were given the opportunity to try on and test some of the equipment. Overall, the cadets were extremely impressed with the presentation, even though Sub-Lt Grant did make a joke about Pilots! 2418 would like to thank Sub-Lieutenant Grant for coming in and speaking to us and we wish him all the best of luck in the future.
