As the Nijmegen Marches get ever closer, South and East Midlands Nijmegen Road Marching Team did their final practice last weekend before the actual marches in Holland.
Before setting of for the march the cadets were given the sponsored boots from Cadet Direct that will support them in the Nijmegen Marches.
Cadet Sergeants James Bland, Craig Harrison and Cadet Bradley Scriven marched the final 20 miles before they do it for real in July. The humid weather made the conditions similar to Holland enabling cadets the opportunity to see how the climate will be like.
The march -a journey walked many times by the cadets in earlier practices -passed through Bradgate Park. The Cadets took the advantage of the humid climate to get a well-deserved ice cream.
As the cadets finished the walk they had a final discussion with Squadron Leader Mayor-Smith about the Nijmegen Marches and all the much needed admin. The whole team was briefed about the opportunities offered by Nijmegen and graced with stories from previous Road Marching Team Members about the memories made by this unique opportunity.
Cadet Sergeant Craig Harrison said, “I can’t wait to go to the marches, I have trained so much and the team we have is strong and filled with fun. This is an opportunity to make memories that I will never forget.”
