Flying High for 25 years

At the Rutland Royal Air Force Association’s Christmas dinner that was recently held at Greetham Valley Golf Club, Dr Laurence Howard, HM Lord Lieutenant for Rutland, presented the Commanding Officer of 2248 (Rutland) Sqn, Flight Lieutenant Jackie Lawrence with a Lord Lieutenant Certificate for Meritorious and Voluntary Service in recognition of her Service with the Air Training Corps. Dr Howard went on to say “The community needs people like Jackie who give up an enormous amount of time to help others.”

Jackie has completed 25 years with the Air Cadets working with various Squadrons around the UK and has commanded three ATC Squadrons. In addition, as well as being a Wing First Aid Instructor, Jackie has also been a Netball selector for various Wings as well as being a Corps selector.

After being presented with the award she said “All the hard work is worth it when I see a shy quiet cadet who joins the Squadron and leaves as a smart confident young person”.
