Four Generations greet the Regional Commandant
Article posted: Dec 11, 2007 by Sqn Ldr Richards1101 (Kettering & District) Sqn recently held their annual Presentation of Awards. The Guest of Honour, Gp Capt Jon Ford, Regional Commandant of Central and East Region, performed the presentations.
In attendance were the staff and Civilian Committee of the Squadron, along with relatives of the cadets and members of Kettering Branch of the Royal Air Force Association.
The Padre, Reverend Robert Hill, enrolled new cadets as members of the Squadron including a very nervous Cdt Stacie Brown. Proudly watching the ceremony was her mother, Louisa Homden a former Cdt Flt Sgt at 1101, Grandmother Wendy Brown, previously a CI on the Squadron and in addition, Stacie’s great grandmother June Shipton was present too!

Squadron Commander, Flt Lt Liz Kerr said: “It is fantastic that the Air Cadets can span the generations and families in this way, proving that we are still offering opportunities that young people want to take up!”
Certificates were presented for achievements in the areas of Academic Training, Sporting activities including netball, hockey, swimming and rugby. Also The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme as well as the top awards of One Gliding Scholarship and two prestigious Leadership Certificates.
CI Michelle Dix was recognised for more than 12 years of Service running the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme on the Squadron.
The cadets from the Squadron gave short, informative presentations on the ATC, Drill and Leadership.
