Cadets from 2248(Rutland) 1279 (Melton) & 2071(Stamford) Sqns (Central & East Region) and cadets from 36 (Hetton Le Hole) & 1338 (Seaham) Sqns (North Region) met and worked together in Stapleford, Leicestershire at a Steam Rally.
The main attraction at the rally was a working miniature railway owned by the Lord Lieutenant of Leicester and president of Melton Sqn. This miniature railway is only open to the public twice a year hence it attracts visitors from all over the country.
The cadet’s role was to park the hundreds of vehicles arriving for the 2 day event. During the evening there was friendly rivalry on the sports fields between the 2 regions.
Flt Lt Lawrence commanding officer of 2248 Sqn said” Its great to see that cadets from different parts of the country can work and have fun together in a short space of time.” Nearly £300 was raised in bucket donations for the Sqns.
