Fun Run Experience for 1360

As if competing in Cadet Sports wasn’t enough for Cadets from 1360 (Stapleford and Sandiacre) Squadron, on Friday 19th April nine of them set out compete in the Erewash Fun Run!

This is a local event where friends and family can get involved, getting fresh air to their lungs and doing some exercise. Cadets from 1360 Squadron had volunteered themselves to run that day. Who thought running could be fun? , but the cadets weren’t running to try and prove that running can be made fun, they were running to raise money for the Squadron.

Added incentive for the Cadets to do well was the guest appearance of the Commanding Officer Flt Lt Gareth Fowler who entered the event alongside the Cadets. The Run itself was 5km Run around the hilly Hemlock Stone Park which each cadet ran, walked or crawled to make it over the finish line. It was really a great event for the squadron.

Cadet Oliver Kirk (15) who took part in the fun run said: “I had a really good time at the fun run I enjoyed the support from friends and family, I found the run challenging but it didn’t stop me from completing it.”

OC Flt Lt Fowler said “This was the inaugural event for the squadron but is definitely one that we will repeat in the future. I am very pleased that only one of the Cadets beat me round the course so a special congratulations to Cdt Dinsdale! I look forward to competing against more of the Cadets next year! Well done 1360!
