Sunday 5th October saw South & East Midlands Wing Open Netball Team pick up the Region Trophy for the Inter-Wing Competition.

The team started the day with an incredible 1st win, and then continued to go from strength to strength. The Competition was a round robin, and the team won 4 games consecutively.

The final game for the Team saw them come up against Herts & Bucks Wing who had also won all their 4 games. Thus meaning this was the deciding game between the 2 teams for the Trophy. After a hard fight, South and East Midlands Wing managed to win the game and take home the Trophy.

Sgt Michelle Coles – Team Manager said “I am extremely proud of the team and the effort they put in. They put up a fight throughout the Competition, and deserved to walk away with the trophy”

At the same time the Boys Hockey team where putting in their best effort for the Junior Competition. The games were played in leagues, and after 2 very unfortunate games the team found themselves playing for 5th & 6th place play-off. The team didn’t manage to win this, however they continued to play as a team and put in 100% effort. They where a credit to the Wing.

After the Competition Wing Commander Dickinson Commented “I am very pleased with and proud of both teams today. They went out and gave everything. However I didn’t realise how fierce a Girls Netball team could be, and at times found myself not able to watch the games due to the tension”
