Thirty cadets and staff from South & East Midlands Wing have successfully completed the Expedition stage of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Using the National Air Cadets Adventure Training Centre at Windermere as their base, five teams walked and camped for four days in the arduous Lake District terrain.

The teams were drawn from 28 cadets and two Civilian Instructors from across the wing:

2 cadets from 5F (Northampton)
5 cadets from 378 (Mannock)
1 cadet + 1 CI from 1084 (Market Harborough)
8 cadets from 1360 (Stapleford & Sandiacre)
11 cadets from 2195 (Long Eaton)
1 cadet + 1 CI from 2229 (Loughborough)

A team consisting of Brian Libby, John Orwin, James Roberts and Gary Marriott from South and East Midlands Wing supervised the expeditions. The teams were independently assessed by three assessors from the Cumbria D of E Panel.

The Gold Award for all those taking part will be presented at St James’s Palace on successful completion of all the elements required.
