On Thursday 26th November 209 (West Bridgford) Squadron was visited by the Regional Commandant of Central and East Region, Group Captain Brett Morrell MCIPS MILT RAFR.
After speaking to Fg Off Richards about the progress 209 Sqn has made over the past 18 months Gp Capt Morrell inspected the Cadets who paraded outside of the Sqn. In front of over 40 family members who had been invited for the evening Gp Capt Morrell took the time to speak to each Cadet on Parade. He then handed out a number of awards and certificates to Cadets including Wing Blues, Cadet NCO Drill Certificates and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. He then enrolled 6 new Cadets into the Squadron.
The rest of the evening was spent in the considerably warmer Sqn building were the Gp Capt spoke to Staff and parents and was shown some of the new facilities 209 Sqn has including it’s flight simulator equipment.

Gp Capt Morrell said of his visit to 209, “The whole purpose of the ATC is to foster an interest in aviation and the RAF. As a primary aim we want to grow the Corps to 50,000 by 2018. 209 has made a significant step towards that goal.”
