Heartstart at Headquarters

On Wednesday 30th July a selection of senior staff from Headquarters Air cadets (HQAC), The Adult Training Facility (ATF) and the Regions attended a Heartstart first aid course at the Station Learning Centre, RAFC Cranwell.

The course was arranged at the request of Commandant Air Cadets, to demonstrate support of and commitment to, the now mandatory Heartstart training for all adult staff within the Air cadet Organisation (ACO).

The course was delivered by Flight Lieutenant Carol Haynes, Central & East Region First Aid Officer and Officer Commanding 5F (Northampton) Squadron and Civilian Instructor Dawn Upton the Central & East Deputy Regional First Aid officer and Adjutant 5F (Northampton) Squadron.

Despite the serious nature of the learning, which was taken on board by all, those who attended thoroughly enjoyed the course and lots of laughter could be heard throughout the learning centre (especially when practising the recovery position!!)

Unfortunately, Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Dawn McCafferty, was unable to attend on the day but has promised to accompany the Central & East Regional Commandant and attend a course at the Northampton Squadron later this year.
