There have been some changes recently at 2248 (Rutland) Squadron, as the former Commanding Officer handed over command of the unit after 10 years at the top.

Flt Lt Jackie Lawrence RAFVR has stepped down as OC Squadron and handed command to Fg Off Alan Stevens RAFVR.

Flt Lt Lawrence has been with the ACO for over 25 years, holding the position of Sqn Officer, Wing Staff Officer and for the past 10 years as OC 2248. Jackie said “I felt it was time for a break as OC 2248 Sqn, as we have achieved so much during the past 10 years. I wish Fg Off Stevens every success in his new role”.

Flt Lt Lawrence will remain at the Squadron assuming the role of Squadron Duke of Edinburgh, First Aid and Adventure Training Officer. Jackie’s final parade as OC Squadron saw her hand over the Keys to the Squadron to Fg Off Stevens, watched by members of the Staff, Cadets and Civilian Committee.

After the final parade, the cadets gathered and gave a rapturous round of applause for Flt Lt Lawrence, in appreciation of her hard work and leadership.

Other changes recently include the arrival of Plt Off Paul Ferguson RAFVR, who took over the role of Squadron Adjutant. Paul arrived from 2071 (Stamford) Squadron in February, and replaces Mrs Jan Dadford who was a CI at the Squadron for over 4 years. On leaving CI Dadford was presented with a card and a farewell gift in appreciation of her service.
