At 70 years old and after nearly thirty years with the Air Cadets, Keith Savage from 2248 (Rutland) Sqn has decided to hand in his 3822 and retire from the cadets.

Keith joined the squadron in 1979 after leaving the RAF. He became the Sqn AWO and also a member of the North Region Shooting team. In his younger days he spent many weekends taking cadets adventure training and shooting. During this time Keith was also a foster parent fostering some 300 children.

At a recent surprise party thrown by the Sqn and attended by the Lord Lieutenant for Rutland Dr Howard and Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Kennedy, Keith was presented with a cut glass decanter.

Commanding Officer Flt Lt Jackie Lawrence said “Keith is a wonderful man not only giving a lot of his time to the cadets but also by helping many other groups in the community. He will be sadly missed by cadets and staff alike.”
