Kettering Air Cadet becomes Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet

Flight Sergeant Charlie Mawby (17) of Kettering recently became one of the cadets for the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, Lady Juliet Townsend LVO. He was presented with his Lord Lieutenant’s badge in a ceremony at Newbottle Manor. In attendance were members of his family and his Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Liz Kerr.

Charlie has been a member of Kettering Air Cadets for 4 years. He has also completed his Silver Duke of Edinburgh award and achieved his Staff II qualification, enabling him to teach other cadets.
He is currently attending the nationwide Junior Leaders course to build upon his achievement at the Frimley Park Leadership course.

Flight Sergeant Mawby (pictured with Lady Juliet) said “I am very proud to represent both my Squadron and the Air Cadets of Northamptonshire in this role and I feel very honoured.”
His parents said “We are amazed at the level of opportunity that the Air cadets has given him, we are very proud of him and his achievements within the Air Cadets!”
His Squadron Commander Flight Lieutenant Liz Kerr RAF VR (T) commented “Each Squadron puts forward their top cadet and this is the recognition for all the hard work that Flight Sergeant Mawby has put in during all the cadet activities he participates in.”
